Aesthetic movement gilded pomegranate jug
£46.00 inc. tax
A Victorian aesthetics movement jug made around 1875 with pewter lid.
Decorated with pomegranates and engine turned ivory bands. A very unusual and striking design in wonderful autumnal colours with raised gilding.
Moulded details and gilding on the spout and handle.
The bands at top and in a few inches down would have been acheived by turning the pot at the leather hard stage on a lathe.
This adds more labour and combined with the gilding and very progressive design leads me to feel that this piece would have been a high quality product when originally sold in the 1870's.
