Aesthetics Movement Japonaise Vase c.1880

A very attractive and elegant vase, 19cm tall, decorated with apple blossoms on one side and cherry blossoms on the other in a Japonaise style on deep turquoise blue with gilded highlights.
The Japanese aesthetic first started to become popular around 1860's in Paris with the influential engraver and designer Félix Bracquemond. Soon 'Japonaise' was the height of fashion.
This vase is decorated with a scroll and paintings floating on the blue ground, a device used much by the designers of the time.
The 'Japonaise' style became incorporated into a wider stylistic trend which today we know as the Aesthetics Movement. This evolved over several decades to eventually become what we now identify as Art Nouveau.
This little vase sits somewhere along that line of development having Japonaise elements while the form is speaking of the natural organic forms of Art Nouveau, which had become the prominent style by the 1880's and 1890's.
I would date this somewhere between 1875 and 1885, and possibly be by the French company of Choisy Le Roi.
It is marked on the base with a crescent moon and star mark with initials. This is not a known makers mark and is possibly a retailers mark. I have not been able to identify it.
It has had a little restoration. Some gilding and a few minor scratches have been touched up as well as a small hairline to the lip restored but altogether it is in good condition and is a very handsome vase which displays well.
