A small majolica Art Nouveau coffee cup with moulded decorative detail highlighted with a cleverly controlled copper and iron glaze in green and brown.
A delightfully authentic relic of French Art Nouveau just 6.2 cm tall.
Made around 1890 by the French faience factory of Choisy-le-Roi who produced majolica from 1860 until 1910.
The firm's wares are not always marked but this little cup has a fabulous clearly stamped mark on the base.
The mark is a black ink stamped "Choisy-le-Roi" with the large "B". The "HB" stands for Hippolyte Boulenger a director at the pottery.
