A delightful neo-classical lozenge shaped Chelsea-Derby dessert dish decorated with garlands of leaves and multi coloured moths and insects and a central garlanded classical urn.
Marked with the blue crown and D mark from Derby during the Chelsea-Derby period prior to 1782.

Condition:
Fair antique condition. There is a significant amount of gilt loss to the edging and there is an old hairline running from the foot which is visible on both sides of the dish and runs across the base and up the side of the dish. The gilding around the footrim which is original has been gilded over this damage, so it may have been from the time of manufacture and occured during one of the firings. The hairline is stable. Some glaze crazing also which is common on this period from the Derby factory.
