Chinese Eighteenth Century Dish
£85.00 inc. tax
A beautiful blue and white hand painted Chinese export porcelain dish made at the end of the Qianlong period c. 1775 to 1790.
Painted with a "Pagoda" pattern and with very nice intact gilding. The border has been hand painted with great skill to mimic Western transfer printed borders.
At this time European manufacturers were competing with Chinese manufacturers and one of the repercussions of this was that the Chinese started copying the Western copies of Chinese pots. And they did it very well.
This dish bares the scars of its long life in the form of a crack which has been pinned at some time in the 19th century.
A fine and collectable item.
