An interesting and collectable plate probably made around 1800 with a neoclassical style.

The shape with the six intents around the edge is usually attribtuted to Coaplort, and this could be an example of an early Coalport design.

This was also the type of decoration developed by the Baxter workshop in London and it is a possibility that this plate may have been a Coalport blank decorated there.

The neoclassical decoration is comprised of three crowned masks and three golden lyres, between which are decorative arabesques in gold and red.

The emphasis on linear drawn decoration of arabesques, swags and bosses is reminiscent of late 18th century French taste seen on Locre and also the Swiss factory of Nyon. with the mask heads and the lyres linking to the Greek classical influence.

An interesting plate in an uncommon design.
