Dagoty Miniature Cup and Saucer
A miniature cup and saucer made by P.L. Dagoty between 1804 and 1814.
The factory was founded in 1798 by the two Dagoty brothers who took over a failing company, the "Bougon" factory in the rue de Chevreuse.
By the Beginning of the 19th century they had turned it into one of the most successful porcelain manufacturers in Paris.
The two brothers were grandsons of the painter Jacues Dagoty and sons of the engraver Jean-Baptiste Gauthier Dagoty.
Etienne sadly died in 1800 at the young age of 28 but his brother Pierre-Louis continued to run the factory alone from 1804.
After the fall of the first Empire in 1814 the Dagoty factory went into partnership with "Honore Pere et fils manufactory" and from 1814 they used the name "Dagoty et Honore" until the close of the business in 1820.
The Dagoty factory made hard paste porcelain and was under the protection of the Empress Josephine.
They supplied porcelain to the palace of Versailles.
