Derby Coffee Cup pattern 121
A fine Duesbury Derby cup pattern number 121. An early number should place it at the beginning of the 1784 Derby period when pieces were marked with the crown and cross batons and the pattern number.
This cup is marked and numbered but its hard to see and photograph, you have to get the light bounding off the glaze. Its a faint puce mark.
A lovely restrained Georgian pattern on a fine body with 16 facets. Top quality gilding to the handle and a band of gilding around the foot, and dentil gilding around the rim. A dark blue onglaze line below the rim and a gilded pattern below that. A gilded bunch of flowers in the bowl of the cup, which shows some wear otherwise over all in excellent condition.
