Derby Dolphin Ewer with Polychrome Decoration c.1770

A very nicely finished small Derby dolphin ewer with shell moulding and coloured enamel flower decoration, finished with a brown line along the top rim.

This shape was used by Derby but also a similar shape was made by Lowestoft, Worcester and a few other factories.

Small and detailed, these little jugs are very sculptural and have a pleasing quality.

Condition:
Good condition, no cracks or restoration.  A small chip to the inside of the lip just at the front as shown in picture No.8.  Some wear and scratches to the enamels.  The glaze is very good, a nice glassy even coat.
