Derby Quatrafoil dish C.1790
£70.00 inc. tax
Late eighteenth century quatrafoil shaped dish, with a wonderfully gilded edge. A very restrained and classic design from the early Derby Duesbury period with a nice puce derby mark.
This is an unknown pattern for Derby but is very similar to pattern 115 which has this edging but also floral polychrome decoration.
Pattern 114 has not been identified so I speculate that this dish could be an example of pattern 114 making this an early Duesbury piece after 1784 but before 1790.
Very high quality for its period, this would have been part of a very expensive and exclusive service.
Makers marks:
Puce derby mark, and decorators number
Size:
24.7 cm long
Age:
230 years
Condition:
Very good. Some wearing to the edge gilding, otherwise good. A small porcelain chip embeded in the glaze on the inside of the foot rim from the time of manufacture
