A delightful early piece of fine English porcelain from the Worcester factory.

Dating from the Dr Wall period this fine little sparrow beak jug is hand painted with the Prunus root pattern in a fine light blue c1754-56.

The depth of the blue was more variable in the early years of the factory, but settled later in the century to a darker blue.  This lighter finer blue is characteristically found on early wares.

This jug has a lovely workman's mark.  The crescent mark was used after 1760 so we can date this to the 1750's period and the foot rim and the blue colour are indications of an period before 1755.

It measures just 88mm tall and weighs 83 grams.

Excellent condition except for a fine short hairline extending from the corner of the lip, and a flea bite at the tip of the lip.

Condition:
Very good antique condition.  The glaze is very nice condition.  No restoration.  A fine tight hairline from the corner of the lip most likely an age related stress crack rather than from shock.  A tiny flea bite at the very tip of the lip.  Otherwise not cracks chips or restoration.  Fine thin translucent porcelain, very nice glaze.  Displays very well.
