Liverpool Porcelain Philip Christian Waste Bowl 1770
A beautifully decorated waste bowl painted with flower sprays in a rather loose style. Very finely potted in a translucent slightly greenish porcelain.
This loose decoration is characteristic of the Philip Christian porcelains, as is the glaze which has a very slightly blue-ish turquoise hue.
This bowl is in excellent condition with a wonderfully bright sparkling glaze and enamels.
After the death of his partner, Richard Chaffers in 1765, Philip Christian continued the operation of their Shaw's Brow porcelain factory.
In 1769 Christian then bought out Mrs Chaffers, Richard Chaffer's widow, who had shares in the company, and brought his son into the business.
In 1778, Christian sold the factory as a going concern to Seth Pennington and John Part.
