A Lowestoft porcelain waste bowl in the rare pattern "Dromedaries on a raft" depicting two camels being transported on a raft.

This pattern is unique to Lowestoft and is quite rare. Produced around 1770-80 so far nobody knows what the inspiration for this sureal pattern was.

The underglaze cobalt blue is quite blurred in parts, and the trees seem to be coconut or some sort of tropical trees.

The inside edge of the bowl has a double blue line in underglazed blue, and there is a flower motif in the bottom of the bowl.  

This is a slop or waste bowl and so bigger than a tea bowl.  The porcelain is of relatively low translucency and has many large "moons" dotted quite evenly across the body.  

The foot is tapering, typical of Lowestoft.  The glaze on the outside is quite thick and glassy.  The inside glaze has been worn through use to be soft and smooth and quite matt.

Condition:
Good antique condition.  A hairline from the rim and several rim chips which have been filled but not over sprayed.  The glaze on the inside of the bowl is worn and some light discolouration.
