NAST PORCELAIN
(FRENCH, 1783-1835)
In 1783, Jean Népomucène Hermann Nast founded the "Manufacture de Nast" in Paris.
Although initially small, the firm soon became one of the most prominent manufacturers of hard-paste porcelain in Europe.
Manufacture de Nast enjoyed huge success in late 18th Century Paris, with works being commissioned by the Government of the French Directory and even the court of Emperor Napoleon I.
As a result, Nast was able to expand his company and in 1810 opened a new, larger factory in Paris with his two sons.
The Manufacture de Nast was at the forefront of developing highly pigmented colour glazes.
Following Nast’s death in 1817, his two sons assumed ownership of the factory. The sons maintained Nast’s high standards of manufacture.
Nast's two sons continued the factory’s management until its sale in 1835.
This plate dates from the early 19th century 1810-20. The blue is a semi-matt texture which gives it a deep rich colour to intensify the rich colours of the flowers.
The gilding is very elegant. A fine white porcelain body and hand painted flower bunches.
A very beautiful example of craftsmanship and design which would have been setting the standards for style elegance and quality in the early 19th century.

Condition:
Excellent antique condition. One of the sprigs shows wear see picture 9, and there is a small grey area of discolouration on the blue rim picture 10. Also a dark inclusion on the rim at the back picture 11 from time of manufacture.
